’Muslim-mukt Bharat dream’: Assam BJP faces backlash for AI video

Mangalore Today News Network

Assam, Sep 17, 2025: A video posted by the Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on its X handle has triggered widespread outrage, with many accusing the party of vilifying Muslims and inciting communal hatred.

The AI-generated video titled ’Assam without BJP’ depicts Muslims in various parts of the State as illegal immigrants taking over public places and government land. The video has a clip purportedly showing Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi and Rahul Gandhi and depicting the party as having a "Pakistan link".

Political leaders and social media users condemned the video as inflammatory and sought to know whether it was aimed at fomenting violence against Muslims in Assam.

Congress leader Mansoor Khan termed it a "deliberate attack on social harmony and an insult to our shared values."

The Assam BJP unit has "stooped to the lowest level of political propaganda by spreading a fake, AI-generated video that portrays the Muslim majority Assam to stoke communal hatred. This is a deliberate attack on social harmony, an insult to our shared values. The people of Assam will give you the right answer for your poisonous campaign", Khan, AICC secretary, said in a post on X.

Supriya Shrinate, chairperson of the social media and digital platforms of the Congress, sought to know from the Election Commission if it had any objection to such posts. "The BJP is spreading poison in this manner," she said in a post on X and asked Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, "Will you, as always, remain a silent spectator and justify this?"

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi condemned the video and said in a post on X, "BJP Assam has posted a disgusting AI video that shows a Muslim-majority Assam if there was no BJP… Their dream is a Muslim-mukt Bharat."

Terming it a "repulsive Hindutva ideology in true form", he said the BJP views "the very existence of Muslims in India as a problem".

"Their dream is a Muslim-mukt Bharat... they’ve no vision for India," he said.
