Mangaluru, Sep 17, 2025: A caricature of Mahatma Gandhi created by renowned cartoonist Shri John Chandran of Karnataka has been selected for the "Gandhi Memorial International Caricature Exhibition." This exhibition is jointly organized by the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Karnataka, the Indian Institute of Cartoonists Bengaluru, and the Egypt Cartoon Platform.
The international exhibition will feature over a hundred artworks by artists from 31 countries, including world-famous cartoonists like Sir David Low, R. K. Laxman, Shankar, and Ranga. The exhibition is set to be inaugurated on October 4th at the Indian Institute of Cartoonists on M. G. Road in Bengaluru.
John Chandran, who serves as an art teacher at St. Aloysius High School, has received several accolades for his cartooning work, including the "Outstanding Person Award," the Suvarna Sadhaka Award, the District Best Teacher Award, and the "District Rajyotsava Award." He has also published two books on cartoons. He is well-known for his cartoon series "Nimmi" and the Tenali Rama comics he created for the Taranga weekly magazine.
