Mangalore, Nov 7, 2011 : Since the district judicial magistrate has remanded Shibu (24), who damaged St. Alphonsa Church property and destroyed the statues of Lord Jesus and Mother Mary there, to 8 days of police custody, the police have enough time to crack the case.
The Mangalore East Police say that they need time to investigate whether the story of Shibu making an forced entry into the church premises seeking sexual favors from an inmate is true or not.
The police have also booked the accused for attempting to disturb communal harmony.
The accused has stated that he was drunk and did not know what he was doing. He recalls getting drunk on Mysore Lancer Whiskey at Morgan’s Gate, after which he remembers urinating near Kankanady Market. He confessed that he was completely drunk when he undressed in the sacristy of St. Alphonsa Church.
