Muthalik had earlier arranged a press conference at Hotel Maya International and had later changed the venue to a place near Ballalbagh. When questioned by reporters, he said that Mangalore Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh did not give him the permission to hold a press conference.

Speaking about the Datta Peeta issue, he said that it has been prolonged for nearly 12 years and that the government should allow the Datta Mala Abhiyan. Stating that this year, the Datta Mala Abhiyan will be held from Nov 9 to Nov 13, he said that around 5000 maladharis will participate in the ceremony in the company of 25 saints. A grand Shobha Yatra on Nov 13 will mark the end of the event, he added.

He also said that the DC of Chikmagalur has made no response to any of the 4 letters sent to him seeking permission to hold pooja.

He also urged the police to take strict action against those supplying cattle for slaughter during Bakrid, adding that the SRS will have to take the law in its hands if the police fail to do their duty.

Speaking on the Kashmir issue, Muthalik said that Kashmir will always remain a part of India, and if anyone says anything to the contrary, the SRS will have to raise its voice.

SRS leaders Kumar Malemar, Prasad Attavar, and many others were also present.
