Scout Sakin Shetty wins Governor’s Certificate

Mangalore, Nov 7, 2011: Sakin Shetty (15) of Std. X at St. Aloysius High School has won the Governor’s Certificate for his outstanding performance as a Scout. Sakin is one of the 85 Scouts who obtained the Governor’s Certificate this year. 

Sakin received the certificate from Octavia Albuquerque, the former national chief commissioner of Bharath Scouts and Guides (BSG) at a special event held by the DK unit of BSG at BSG Bhavan today.

 

Speaking on the occasion, U. Gopalakrishna Bhat, the BSG district headquarters commissioner, said that the organization distributes certificates to cubs, bulbuls, scouts, guides, rovers, and rangers according to their annual performances. A total of 103 cubs, 85 scouts, 101 bulbuls, and 112 guides were chosen to receive the Governor’s Certificate from DK this year, he added.

Sakin has obtained this certificate for his participation in the 10-day International Scouts Jamboori in Sweden from July 25 to Aug 10. Speaking about his experiences, he said that it gave him the opportunity to meet scouts from a number of countries such as England and US, many of whom are his Facebook friends now. 

Sakin was one of the six DK scouts who participated in this international camp, which had a total of 49,500 participants from 130 countries.
