School bus driver suffers cardiac arrest; dies in hospital

Manipal, June 6, 2024: A school bus driver who had suffered a cardiac arrest while ferrying children home on the evening of June 5 at Perampalli, has succumbed at a hospital in Manipal where he was undergoing treatment.

The deceased driver is Alwyn D’Souza (53). The bus belonging to a private school of Brahmavar was on way to Manipal via Perampalli when the driver suffered a heart attack. With great presence of mind he had veered the bus to the roadside before halting it. At least four students were injured in the incident. The injured students and the driver were rushed to the hospital soon after.

The children are said to be out of danger and except one all have been discharged.
