Beltangady, Oct 5, 2025: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Dharmasthala mass burial case interrogated two ambulance drivers from Beltangady till late evening on October 4 regarding the transportation of bodies from the area.

The drivers, identified as Jaleel and Hameed, who have been in service for nearly two decades, were served notices to appear before the SIT. Investigators reportedly questioned them on the movement of bodies from Dharmasthala, including their destinations and related documentation.

The duo clarified that they had transported bodies strictly on police instructions for post-mortem examinations, with all details duly recorded. They said most of the cases involved suicides, accidental drownings, and unclaimed bodies, often retrieved from near the Netravati bathing ghat. Both expressed willingness to cooperate further if required.

Jaleel and Hameed, long-time ambulance drivers in Beltangady, previously operated frequently in Dharmasthala, though their trips have reduced in recent years with more ambulances now available in the region.

Meanwhile, the SIT has also issued notices to five to six YouTubers in connection with the case. While YouTuber Santosh was interrogated on October 3, sources said the process remains incomplete. None of the others appeared before the team on October 4, and their dates of inquiry are yet to be confirmed.
