Mangalore, Dec 23, 2011: The Student Federation of India (SFI) organized a protest rally to condemn the state’s educational policies today.
SFI State Joint Secretary Jeevan Kuttar said in his protest address that the elected representatives have transformed education into a business opportunity. Condemning this development, he said that it will force people to sell their property just to get a higher education. He accused the state government of acting as an agent for the privatization of education.
Stating that government schools are in a pathetic condition, he demanded that the government should renovate all government schools if it really cares for their welfare. He suggested that the government should release funds directly to these schools to ensure the welfare of students studying there.
He also criticized the CET for certain lapses in its appointment of teachers, adding that the government is least bothered about the future of B.Ed. and D.Ed. students.
District SFI Secretary Manoj Vamanjoor and District SFI President Nithin Kumar were also present.
