Puttur man sentenced to death for killing his children, in-laws

Puttur, Dec 3, 2013: The fifth additional session’s court in Puttur on Dec 3 Tuesday has pronounced death sentence to Ramesh Naik, convicted of killing his two children and in- laws in 2010.

ramesh puttur 1Judge T J Shivashakare Gowda said that the cases is rarest of the rare, where Naik killed his two children and in- laws and was convicted on November 26 , hence he deserve no mercy.

Ramesh Naik, a resident of Panaje Ardhmule was working as a manager at a nationalized bank in Sholapur, Maharasthra, while his wife Sundari worked in a bank in Mangalore.

It is recalled that Naik, during his visit to rented house in Tumkur on June 14, 2010 had fought with his mother-in-law Saraswati and sister-in-law Savita and strangled them to death. Later, their bodies were retrieved from a water tank of the house.

Naik also revealed that, he had taken care of his sister-in-law for several years and helped her to pursue education and get a job in Bangalore. He also had an affair with her, but when he came to know about her love interest with another boy belonging to different community, he could not tolerate and killed her and mother -in- law.

Later, he came to Mangalore and took away his children to his native Panaje, when his was away at work and drowned them in a pond.

He was contemplating suicide, when police nabbed him on June 16, 2010 from a lodge in Puttur.

When the judgment was pronounced his wife Sundari and relatives were present in the court. K Shivaprasad Alva was the public prosecutor.
