Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, Aug 3, 2026: Independent MP Pappu Yadav, who led a protest against the alleged Ayodhya Ram Temple donations theft inside the Parliament premises last week, has said he has been receiving death threats from right-wing groups on Monday.

"Since this morning, I have received four threatening calls saying, ’We will kill you today’ People saying, ’I am speaking from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad,’ or ’I am speaking from the Bajrang Dal. If you step out, we will kill you. Apologise. I don’t understand what I am supposed to apologise for," Yadav said.

He added that they were indulged in theft and have toyed with the faith of common people, while also "betraying God."

"You are the ones committing theft. You are the ones toying with the faith of the common man. You are the ones betraying God... What complaint can I file now?"

Yadav claimed that ’Kalnemi’ sadhus have been calling to "bring his head", reiterating that he did not target a specific individual or use abusive language.

"Since morning, these ’Kalnemi’ sadhus have been saying things like ’bring his head’... I had actually gone to see a doctor just now. I can barely speak. My question is straightforward. We respect all saints. I did not name any specific individual. I did not use abusive language against anyone. I simply staged a protest," Yadav said.

This comes a day after a shoe was hurled at the MP outside his residence following which a major scuffle broke out while he was addressing a press conference.

In the video, a man was heard confronting Yadav regarding the play that was held and told him he was "disrespecting their beliefs". Things turned ugly after the man threw a shoe at Yadav, following which, supporters of Yadav thrashed the man.

A knife was also allegedly recovered from the man.

An FIR has also been registered against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and MPs Pappu Yadav and Awadhesh Prasad for allegedly hurting religious sentiments over their skit on the Ram temple donation theft in the Parliament complex.
