Mangalore, Nov 19, 2012 : The Popular Front of India (PFI) has rubbished allegations that it had received monetary assistance from Hindu fundamentalist groups to make a large number of people attend a convention it had recently organized on Nehru Maidan as part of its nationwide awareness campaign titled Why Popular Front.
According to a media report, the PFI had obtained monetary assistance from Sangh Parivar to make this convention a success. The media report had also stated that a secret meeting of the PFI and Sangh Parivar leaders was held.
Addressing the press today, Abdul Razak, Shahul, Nazeer, Ataullah Jokatte, and other leaders of the DK unit of the PFI demanded an apology from the Kannada evening paper that had published this report.
Accusing the evening paper of attempting to tarnish the image of the PFI, a social organization that was launched for the purpose of social welfare 23 years back, PFI leaders said that allegations of a secret pact between the PFI and the Sangh Parivar is just part of a campaign to wreck the PFI.
The PFI warned that it will sue the evening paper and the reporter if they failed to apologize immediately.
