Our Lady of Pompei feast celebrated with great joy

Mangalore, Dec 13, 2011 : Our Lady of Rosary Church parish celebrated the feat of Our Lady of Pompei on Dec 11 Sunday. Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, was the chief celebrant of the festive mass. Fr. Pius James D’Souza, the superior of Carmel Hill, preached the homily.

Novenas are being regularly held at the church ever since the Lady of Pompei was installed there on Jan 25, 1895.

The holy mass was concelebrated by Fr. Richard Coelho, Fr. Stany Goveas, Fr. Francis D’Souza, and Fr. Wilson D’Souza, among others.

Fr. Victor D’Mello, the parish priest, distributed candles among the benefactors.

The holy sacrament was carried in a procession through Urwa Market, Gandhi Nagar, Lady Hill Circle, and back to the church after mass. It was accompanied by a colorful tableaux.
