No question of shielding culprits in Suhas Shetty murder case: Dinesh Gundu Rao

Mangaluru, May 2, 2025: Dakshina Kannada District in-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, who is also minister for Health and Family Welfare, said “The murder of Suhas Shetty in Bajpe, Mangaluru is extremely brutal and shocking. I am personally deeply disturbed by this incident.”

In a post on social media platform X, the Minister said, “At first glance, it appears to be an act driven by old enmity, but the underlying intent seems to be to disturb the peace in the coastal region. Therefore, the government will take appropriate action against the criminals responsible for the act. There is absolutely no question of shielding the culprits involved in the murder of Suhas Shetty. There will be no favoritism or appeasement here. I have already received information about the incident from police officials, and I have instructed them to take strict action against the perpetrators.”

Further, he said The BJP has already begun politicising the Suhas case. "To those attempting to play politics over a dead body, I have one thing to say: maintaining law and order is your responsibility too. Do not engage in the act of spreading hatred and provoking unrest in Mangaluru. Act responsibly.”

“ It is our government’s responsibility to ensure justice for Suhas Shetty’s family. We are not people who merely promise strict action in words; we will ensure the culprits are dealt with according to the law,” the minister also said.

“Finally, I pray for peace to the soul of Suhas Shetty, who lost his life in this horrific act. I offer my heartfelt condolences to his grieving family,” the post said.

Take steps to maintain law and order

Assembly Speaker U T Khader said that he has instructed police to take measures to identify the culprits and maintain law and order in the district.

Khader, also discussed the issue with the Chief Minister and the Home Department, has also advised the government to take appropriate steps to ensure that peace and order in the district are not disturbed.

Hindu society must be alert

RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat said “Hindu society should be alert against such attacks and injustice against the Hindu Karyakarthas. We must fight for our dharma and justice. Hindus must be ready to face any situation.”

"Though police claim that Suhas was involved in the murder of Fazil, where is the proof? The court has not convicted him yet. He was an active karyakartha. If the police had known that it was a retaliation murder, the police should have given protection to Suhas. Praveen Nettaru was murdered without any motive. Similar is this case. Hindu society should live in this country and prepare for all fearful situations. Hindus never made any attacks. We have to be alert.”
