Mangalore, Apr 16, 2012: Addressing a press conference at Patthumudi Soudha on April 16 Monday, Jeevananda Shetty, the president of the committee of Shri Pilichamundi Banta, Mundatthaya Daivasthana, Kondana, said that the new committee has taken over with effect from April 12, 2012.
Further, he said that the historical daivasthana has been taken over by the Muzrai Department and has been presented to Venkat Rao. However, it was later managed as a family temple and the management did not provide basic facilities such as drinking water and sanitation to devotees.
Speaking on the occasion, Thamar Krishna Shasthry said that the Muzrai Department had also handed over the gold ornaments, silver, armor, mask, and other weapons of the deities during the annual festival along with 30 acres of land belonging to the temple. However, the 30 acres of land is now not in the temple records, owing to which there was a clash between the temple management and the residents, who later appealed to the High Court, which delivered the verdict in favor of the residents and directed the DC of DK to investigate the matter.
The temple is now managed by a brand new committee, which will satisfy all the demands of the devotees during the annual festival with the assistance of donors, he said.
Narayana, Yashodhara Senava Kotekar Gutthu, K. Prasad Madoor, Balakrishna Amin Madoor, Shivaprasad Acharya Kinya, and Mrs. Vasanthi Aithappa Poojary were also present.
