Dense smoke and toxic fumes quickly spread throughout the area, forcing emergency evacuations of surrounding neighbourhoods.

Fire department officials have confirmed that five workers’ bodies have been recovered from the debris, while 13 others were successfully rescued. More than 20 workers sustained serious injuries, many with critical burn wounds. Fire department teams are continuing to search for additional personnel who may be trapped beneath the collapsed structure.

The injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals, with the most critical cases transferred to facilities in Hyderabad for specialised treatment. Family members of workers have gathered at the site, many unable to reach their relatives by phone, adding to the anxiety surrounding the disaster.

According to local sources, Sigachi Industries manufactures pharmaceutical powders and employs approximately 100 workers from various states across India. The company operates in the Pashamylaram industrial area, a hub for chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Preliminary investigation suggested that pressure buildup in the reactor may have caused the explosion.
