Puttur rape, cheating case: Victim’s mother seeks justice

Puttur, June 30, 2025: The mother of the young woman who delivered a baby after she was impregnated allegedly by a BJP leader’s son who is presently absconding, has appeared before the media persons on Monday and sought justice for her daughter.

She claimed that her daughter and the accused Krishna J Rao were friends right since their high school days. She also claimed that she came to know of her daughter’s pregnancy when she was seven months pregnant.

She also said she had then approached the boy’s father P G Jagannivas Rao who had assured to get the two married.

She further said the accused later called her and said he would not marry her daughter and also threatened to end his life if pressurized.

Later when she had approached the women’s police station to lodge a complaint, the boy’s father too was present and he made her speak to the local MLA who said Rao had agreed to give his son in marriage to her daughter. He also reportedly asked not to lodge a complaint. The boy’s father had also signed a bond with a promise of marriage, she claimed.

She further said the boy and even his mother had rejected the demand for marriage and the father had recommended abortion saying he would bear the cost, the victim’s mother said.

She further said she was ready for a DNA test of the baby and also added the police have not yet arrested the accused even after five days of him absconding. She said her family has also met the SP seeking justice and strongly felt the police department was silent in this case.
