Udupi: Right-wing leader arrested for alleged hate speech

Udupi, Nov 19, 2025: Police have arrested Ratnakar Ameen (49), a resident of Ajekar and leader of a right-wing organisation, after a case was filed against him for allegedly delivering a hate speech.

The incident occurred on November 15 during a protest near Jatka Stand organised by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Udupi taluk, condemning the Islamic terror act linked to the New Delhi bomb blast. Ameen is accused of making a provocative speech that allegedly fostered communal hatred.

Udupi Town Police registered a suo motu case and, on November 18, a special team led by Town Police Inspector Manjunath V. Badiger arrested Ameen at Mangaluru Central railway station. He was later produced before the court.
