Sahyadri College inaugurates Power Loom Cloth Production Unit at Adyar Gram Panchayat

Mangaluru, June 30, 2025: In an effort to encourage rural industrial development and women’s empowerment, Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru, in collaboration with Adyar Gram Panchayat, inaugurated a Power Loom Cloth Production Unit on June 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Ambedkar Bhavan, Adyar Padavu.

The unit was formally inaugurated by Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty, MLA of Mangaluru North. The ceremony was graced by Manjunath Bhandary, MLC and Chairman of Sahyadri College, who served as the Chief Guest.

 

 

Abdul Jaleel, President of Adyar Gram Panchayat, presided over the event, which witnessed participation from panchayat members, local organisation representatives, and community residents.

The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. S. Injaganeri, Principal of Sahyadri College. In his inaugural address, Dr. Bharath Shetty emphasised the importance of such initiatives in creating local employment opportunities and promoting self-reliance, particularly among women.

Manjunath Bhandary, in his remarks, highlighted the unit as a vital step towards the development of rural industries and fostering sustainable livelihoods.
Presiding over the event, Abdul Jaleel noted that the Gram Panchayat is committed to inclusive development and remains actively engaged in empowering all sections of society.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Vishal Samartha. The programme was compered by Prof. Padmanabha B.
