Bengaluru, June 30, 2025: Bengaluru police arrested a man from Assam for allegedly murdering his lover over a domestic row and disposing of her body inside a BBMP garbage truck, police officials said on Monday.
The suspect is Samshuddin, 32, who was living together with the victim, Asha, 40, at his house in Hulimavu. Police said the two worked in a housekeeping company, and that’s where they met.
Investigations revealed that Asha was a widow originally from Bengaluru, while Samshuddin was married. However, his wife and children resided in Assam. He moved to the city nearly one-and-a-half years ago, and met the victim at their place of work.
“They lived together at the suspect’s house in Hulimavu for the last five or six months,” a police investigator said DH. “The victim had two adopted children who stayed in a hostel.”
According to the police, the couple quarreled regularly, and on June 28, she came home drunk, which, as per the suspect, was a frequent occurrence.
“This led to another round of argument, and it provoked the suspect, who, in a fit of rage, strangled the woman and killed her. The victim was also suspected of having a relationship with someone else,” the investigator said.
The suspect then wrapped her body inside a blue polythene bag, put it inside another white polythene gunny bag, carried it on his two-wheeler and dumped it inside a parked BBMP garbage truck beside the Sports Complex in CK Achukattu.
“He was roaming around looking for deserted places to dispose of the body,” the officer said.
At around 1:45 am on June 29, Mohamad Mustaf M, 43, a city-based software engineer, saw the bag when he went to dispose of trash inside the truck, which he told the police he did regularly, as both he and his wife were working professionals and were unable to throw the trash when the trash collectors come in the morning.
Mustaf saw bits of hair and blood on the gunny bag and immediately went to the CK Achukattu police station to alert the investigators. A murder case was subsequently registered by the police.
Police began the probe and, after technical and CCTV analysis, identified Samshuddin as the prime suspect. He was subsequently arrested in the Hulimavu area, the police said.
“Investigations revealed that the victim and suspect were posing as husband and wife. It is being verified. Further probe is underway,” said Lokesh B Jagalasar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South).
