NIT-K Suratkal to hold 9th annual convocation

Mangalore, Feb 24, 2012: National Institute of Technology – Karnataka (NIT-K) in Suratkal will hold its 9th annual convocation on Feb 25 Saturday. 


Making the above announcement at a press conference held today, G. Umesh, the professor of the department of physics and dean (research and consultancy) of NIT – K, said that the convocation ceremony will be held in NIT-K’s Silver Jubilee Auditorium at 11:00 a.m.

Revealing further details, he said that Padmashree Dr. Shrikumar Banerjee, the chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission and secretary of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, will deliver the convocation address. 


Sushil Chandra Tripathi, the chairman of the Board of the Governors of NIT-K, will preside and Prof. Sandeep Sancheti, the director of NIT-K, will deliver the welcome address. 


He also said that senate members, board of governors, board of governors, parents, staff members, and others will participate in the convocation ceremony, during which 509 students will graduate with B.Tech degrees, 455 with M.Tech, 70 with MCA, 40 with MBA, 42 with M.Sc, and 16 with Ph.D. Besides, medals for outstanding academic performance will be conferred on 37 students, he added. 


Revealing statistics of students passing out of the institutions, Prof. Umesh said that 1132 students passed out in 2010 – 11. He also informed that the peak salary in India for students passing out is Rs. 16 lakh per year and the international salary is Rs. 64 lakh per year.
