Murder of woman at Maani: Accused arrested within hours

Vittal, June 28, 2022: Police have arrested the accused in the case of stabbing a married woman to death at Neralakatte near Maani on June 27, Monday. The arrest was made within a few hours after the incident.

 

The deceased woman is Shakuntala, wife of Sanjeeva, a resident of Ananthady. The accused is Sridhar, an autorickshaw driver.

Shakuntala was running a canteen  at Kombettu in Puttur since five years. Of late she  was going to her canteen from her home in her own two-wheeler. Prior to that she was using the services of the autorickshaw of Sridhar.

It is learnt, a year ago, Shakuntala had filed a police case against Sridhar for abusing her.  Of late he even used to gaze her angrily while passing through the canteen instilling fear in her, Shakuntala’s husband  has said in his complaint.

The woman was stabbed by the accused while she was on way to her canteen on Monday. A passerby who witnessed the crime had informed the police. A severely injured Shakuntala later died in the hospital.
