Mukka residents stage Rasta Roko against eviction for NH widening

 Mangalore, Oct 18, 2013 :   Residents of Mukka under the aegis of the Action Committee  of people affected by acquisition of land for  NH widening,  staged a  highway block agitation near NITK on October 17, Thursday  opposing the moves of the NHAI to evict 38 houses   at Mukka though the Department had the required 49 meters of land for NH widening in the area.

 

 

 

Prior to the road block agitation,  the agitators took out a padayatra  from  Mukka check post to NITK  shouting slogans against the anti-people policies of the NHAI.

Addressing the protestors, Committee President Mahabala Rai Mukka said  if the erstwhile government had ordered that the NH should be extended without causing harm to places of worship and causing inconvenience to public,efforts were  now made to evict several families near Mukka.

 Subhaschandra Shetty who also spoke said the Suratkal Citizens Committee  fully backed the agitation.

Former mayor Rajani Dugganna, Corporator  Sumithra and several others took part in the protest.
