Karnataka sting operation: Congress expels Kripa Alva for anti-party activity

Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, Oct 31, 2026: The Karnataka Congress has expelled Kripa Alva, who featured in alleged sting operation videos containing serious allegations against former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, for six years on charges of anti-party activities.

The expulsion was ordered by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president B.K. Hariprasad.

According to the expulsion order issued by Congress vice-president M. Narayanaswamy, media reports about sting operations targeting Congress leaders had created negative publicity and embarrassment for the party.

The order stated that Alva had been served a show-cause notice seeking an explanation regarding her alleged involvement in the videos, but she had failed to respond.

Alva served as chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights from 2015 to 2018, during Siddaramaiah’s first tenure as Chief Minister.

Siddaramaiah’s son, Dr Yathindra, who is also an Urban Development Minister, had publicly accused Alva of attempting to blackmail his father over a demand for a Congress ticket.

Alva had reportedly sought the party ticket to contest from the Puttur Assembly constituency.
