The deceased is Laxmi Narayana (26) aka Laxmisha, who was allegedly stabbed to death by his mother Ratna (52) and brother Somashekar (32). The trio was reportedly arguing over some property. The Uppinangady police have registered a case.

Laxmisha was in his house at Boodujaalu on Monday at 9:45 a.m. He made a frantic phone call to his brother Ravi about 10 minutes later pleading for help and stating that his mother and brother Somashekar were attacking him.

Ravi later told reporters that he had been to Patrame on the night of Sunday and was in Kokkada when he got this strange call form his brother. Upon getting the call, he rushed to his brother Laxmisha’s house. He said that he found the door closed, but a wounded Laxmisha managed to open the door for him before collapsing. He spoke to his brother for around 10 minutes after calling the ambulance, but the victim died before the ambulance arrived. Ravi used to visit Laxmisha every week.

Laxmisha was a security guard at a commercial bank in Dharmasthala and used to fix dish antennas for TVs as a part-time work. He never had any bad habits, but used to get into frequent arguments with his mother and brother Somashekar. Reportedly, their sister Mamatha had married against his wish and he did not want her to visit their house.

While Ratna is an Anganwadi worker, Somashekar is an electrician. The duo was spotted on a two-wheeler together after the murder.

Ratna is a mother of five. One of her children had committed suicide a couple of years back, but Ravi has expressed doubts that it could have been murder because the deceased’s feet were touching the floor.

SP Labhu Ram, DYSP Nagaraj, Additional SP Prabhakar, and police officers from the Uppinangady police station rushed to the spot.
