Mangaluru, Nov 14, 2025: The court has sentenced Chidananda Parashu Naika to life imprisonment for the murder of Chethan, who worked at a college canteen in Moodbidri. The verdict was delivered by the 2nd Additional District and Sessions Special Court, Mangaluru.
About the case:
Chethan (22) and Chidananda, who worked together at a college canteen in Moodbidri, often had disputes over work-related and personal issues. On the night of October 10, 2020, the accused, Chidananda Parashu Naika, allegedly entered Chethan’s resting room illegally with the intention of killing him. Armed with an iron rod, he abused Chethan in foul language and assaulted him on the head and face. He also damaged Chethan’s mobile phone. At the time, Chethan was sleeping in the room along with Rajesh Poojary and Shankrappa.
Chethan, who suffered severe injuries, succumbed to them on November 9. A case was registered at the Moodbidri police station.
The then Police Inspector B.S. Dinesh Kumar conducted the investigation and filed the chargesheet against the accused. Chidananda was arrested on November 1 and had been in judicial custody. A total of 40 witnesses were examined during the trial. Today, Judge Jagadish V.N. of the 2nd Additional District and Sessions Court delivered the verdict and sentenced the accused to life imprisonment.
