Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Sep 28: Lokayukta Justice N. Santhosh Hegde said that rumours about Minister Katta Subrahmanya Naidu attempting to interfere into the Lokayukta investigations on the KIADB land scam issue are false. He was speaking to reporters during a Yuva Sammelana organized by the Ramakrishna Mutt.

Further speaking about the matter, he said that no minister can influence or interfere in Lokayukta investigations. Stating that a few ministers do meet him, he said that they had never spoken about the KIADB issue. A report regarding the KIADB investigation will be ready within a fortnight, he added.

Voicing his opinions on the ban on iron ore export, Justice Hegde said that iron ore has been exported from the Mangalore Port irrespective of the ban and that he has letters exchanged between port officials and Gokul, the forest officer. The matter will be investigated further, he added.

Hegde refused to make any comment when a reporter pointed out that CM B. S. Yeddyurappa gained a upper hand during the cabinet reshuffle done recently precisely because of the Lokayukta’s resignation and later withdrawal of the same.

He said that notices will be issued against people’s representatives who fail to declare their assets; and action will be taken on the basis of responses to those notices.
