Met department predicts heavy rains for next 48 hours

Mangalore, Oct 25, 2011 : The twin districts experienced rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning on Oct 24 Monday, making many people postpone their Diwali celebrations to Tuesday. The electricity also failed, plunging the twin districts in darkness.

 

lightingThere was heavy lightning with thunder in Subrahmanya, Puttur, Sullia, Vittal, Bantwal, and DK. At least 5 students in Bethangady were injured because of lightning.

Nagesh Poojary (35), Chandrahasa (12), and Sundari (50), all from Bantwal, were seriously injured.

The Met department has predicted heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours in DK and Udupi.

People have been injured in Hebri, Ajekar, and Karkala; fortunately, these injuries are minor and the victims are now recovering.
