Mental depression leads businessman to end life

Bantwal, Oct 17, 2013: A businessman committed suicide near his residence at Kolkere, Goltamajal on October 17, Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Vasudeva Prabhu (55), owner of Prabhu Electronics at BC Road and Managing Trustee of Kadambu Kallurti Daivasathana, Vittal. 

His body was found hanging from a tree near his house and Police have also found a death note.

Reportedly, Prabhu had started Prabhu Electronics at Kalladka and later move on to a full-fledged showroom at BC Road. But when a portion of shop was acquired for highway widening and had no proper road to his shop. Hence he had to shift his shop nearby place and had to pay around Rs one lakh as rent per month.

Prabhu’s first wife had committed suicide a few years ago and has two children from her. Later he remarried and separated within six months. Several allegations were against Prabhu in connection to the suicide of his first wife.

In the death note written Prabhu mentioned that he was mentally distressed and even his horoscope predicted that he would die in an accident, But he had escaped unhurt from many accidents. He wanted to die before children grow and his property has been willed in his son’s name.

A case has been registered at Bantwal town police station.
