Medical negligence blamed for death of Gram Panchayat Vice President

Bantwal, Sep 21, 2013 : The vice president of the Sarapady Gram Panchayat who was admitted to a private hospital in the town for delivery, has died reportedly due to medical negligence on September 20, Friday.

Shakuntala 1 Shakuntala (32) who hailed from Kokala was hospitalized on September 19, Thursday after she developed labour pains.

It is said thatwhen her condition deteriorated on Friday, the doctors suggested to take her to a hospital in Mangalore. However, Shakuntala died while being taken in an ambulance.

Her husband Sai Shanthi has lodged a complaint with the police against Dr Indira of the hospital who treated Shakuntala. Villagers too allege that Shakuntala died due to medical negligence and that similar such incidents had taken place in the hospital in the past too.

The deceased Sai Shanthi has two children-a daughter who is studying in fifth standard and a son in third standard.
