Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Sep 26, 2025: Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy visited the vehicle driving training centre at Mudipu Fazir, which was inaugurated in 2022. He said the centre offers a one-month training program, with practical sessions supported by providing a lorry or heavy vehicle.

The centre has hostel facilities for 50 trainees, though currently no one stays there as all trainees commute daily. Candidates not only from Mangaluru but also from other districts can avail training here. Support will also be sought from the Skill Development Corporation, he added.

At present, training is available for light motor vehicles and heavy vehicles. Soon, one-day training for two-wheeler learner’s test practice will also be introduced.

The centre is spread over 10 acres, and further development will be prioritized. The principal of the centre has been instructed to submit proposals for improvements. Similar centres already exist in Bengaluru, Dharwad, and Shivamogga, while new automated driving test tracks are being planned in Vijayapura, Vijayanagara, Nagamangala, and Ballari.

The Minister also stated that efforts will be made to deploy KSRTC buses in areas where there is high demand.

Transport Commissioner Yogeesh A.M., Assistant Commissioner C. Mallikarjun, Shivamogga Joint Commissioner Bhimanagowda Patil, and Mangaluru RTO Sridhar Mallad were present.
