The incident occurred on a passenger train that departed from Subrahmanya on Tuesday. Due to heavy crowding, a quarrel broke out between two passengers near Bantwal over seating arrangements. In a moment of frustration, one of them pulled the emergency chain, causing the train to come to an unscheduled stop.

Railway officials promptly intervened and investigated the situation. Upon arrival at Mangaluru Junction, RPF personnel identified the individual responsible, conducted an inquiry, and issued a fine of ₹1,500, along with a warning not to repeat the offense.
