Mangaluru: Crude oil shipment from China arrives for ISPRL underground facility

Mangaluru, Apr 3, 2026: A major crude oil consignment from China has reached the New Mangalore Port, boosting energy inflow to the region.

The vessel ‘Leela Jamnagar’ has docked at the port carrying 2.7 lakh metric tonnes of crude oil from Zhoushan port, which will be supplied to the Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited (ISPRL) underground storage facility in Mangaluru.

In addition, the vessel ‘Al Ain’ has arrived with 19,600 metric tonnes of LPG.

The port is witnessing heightened activity in energy shipments this week. On April 3, the vessel ‘Desh Bhakt’ is scheduled to bring 63,171 metric tonnes of Mangala crude oil from Rajasthan for Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL).

Looking ahead, on April 5, the vessel ‘Jag Vasant’ is expected to arrive with 9,500 metric tonnes of LPG for Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL), Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), and Bharat Petroleum (BPCL). On the same day, the large tanker ‘Gabon Prosperity’ is set to dock with 2,75,021 metric tonnes of crude oil for MRPL.
