Mangaluru: Couple arrested for duping people of crores with promise of overseas jobs

Mangaluru, Oct 30, 2025: Kavoor police have arrested a couple from Bengaluru for allegedly cheating several people of crores of rupees by promising them overseas employment opportunities.

The arrested have been identified as Prakruthi U. (34), a resident of Weavers Colony, Anekal in Bengaluru, and Alban Rebello (42), a native of Church Road, Gangolli in Kundapur taluk. The duo, who married after being in a relationship, had been residing in Anekal, Bengaluru.


Couple fruad

They reportedly lured hundreds of people through online platforms and personal contacts, claiming to provide jobs abroad. Believing their assurances, victims paid them between ₹3 to ₹4 lakh each, amounting to several crores in total.

Over 30 complaints have been filed at Kavoor police station, and an FIR has been registered. Most of the victims are said to be Christians, who were promised employment in England and other European countries.

The couple also ran a school named Public School in Anekal, Bengaluru. During a police raid on their residence, officers recovered 24 passports and 43 grams of gold worth ₹4.3 lakh.

The accused were arrested in Bengaluru, brought to Mangaluru, produced before court, and taken into police custody for further investigation.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of ACP Srikanth, by Kavoor Police Inspector Raghavendra Baindur, SI Mallikarjun Biradar, and staff members Nagarathna, Praveen, Raghavendra, and Riyaz.
