Mangaluru: Bus hits scooter; pillion rider dies on the spot

Mangaluru, Feb 5, 2026: A pillion rider was killed on the spot after a bus collided with a scooter at Nanthoor in the city on Wednesday night.
The deceased has been identified as Deepti (26), a resident of Ballalbagh.
The scooter rider sustained injuries in the accident. Both the bus and the scooter were travelling from Shivbagh towards Nanthoor. Near the Nanthoor bus stop, the bus hit the scooter, causing it to fall under the bus. One of the bus tyres ran over the pillion rider, resulting in her instant death, police said.
