Mangalore, March 3, 2012 : Mulla & Mulla of Mumbai, the legal representatives of Air India (AI) has settled 114 of the total 158 cases so far, and eight of them have been settled only in part.
AI Chief Finance Officer Kapil Aseri said that 96 cases have been completely settled and 8 have been partly settled for a total of Rs. 83 crore. During the last 3 days, 11 cases were settled.
Ten of the 114 cases have been settled as per the ruling of the Kerala High Court.
According to Hoshang D. Nanavathi of Mulla & Mulla, the AI is eager to finish as many cases as possible before the second anniversary of the Mangalore plane crash and will be holding another meeting in Mangalore shortly.
Mulla & Mulla is dealing only with those families who have not approached the foreign legal firm and those who are waiting for the Supreme Court’s ruling on this issue.
Abdul Salam, the father of Mohammed Rafi (24), who died in the tragic Mangalore plane crash, moved the Supreme Court after the Kerala High Court ruled in August in favour of AI.
