Mangalore: Sharan, TV cameraman arrested in Home stay attack

Mangalore, Jan 2: Sharan , a cameraman of prominent Kannada TV channel has been arrested by the Kankanady police, near Pandeshwar Fire Station, Mangalore, on January 2.


It may be recalled that on November 7, TV Journalist Naveen Soorinje was arrested by the Kankanady police at Padil on his way returning from Sullia after covering the JD(S) convention.

A PIL filed in the court of Mangalore seeking action against the media, the visual media in particular, which was aware of the unfortunate incidents to be taken place, but have failed to inform the police in advance to avert attack on the youngsters who was celebrating birthday in a Homestay at Padil, Mangalore.


It is reliably learnt that warrants had been issued against two mediapersons, Naveen Soorinje and Sharan by the junior magistrate first class (JMFC) III court on Oct 3 in connection with the homestay attack.


When Sharan was passing near Pandeshwar Fire Station the Kankanady rural police led by the police Ravish Naik arrested Sharan. Another accused in the homestay attack Santosh Shetty, son of Srinivas from Shaktinagar was also arrested by the Kankandy rural police at 6.30p.m at Jyoti and sent to Judicial Custody.
