Mangalore, Dec 29,2012: The casteism prevailing in the Indian society is the main reason for the growth of communalism and also the rise of the concept called Hindutva in the Indian society, Dr Anand Teltumbde, Marxist leader and civil rights activist said.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Aikyatha Samavesh organized by the Karnataka Komu Sauharda Vedike at the Loyola auditorium of St Aloysius PU College in Mangalore on December 29, Saturday.He said communalism was spreading like a virus in the society and urged discerning citizens to fight this evil.





He pointed out how the Sangh Parivar opted for the Communalism agenda to retain its existence. Communalism and casteism are two sides of the same coin, he said and expressed his happiness that Komu Sauharda Vedike which was fighting communalism in the society, has completed ten years of existence.
Dr Teltumbde further said inter-religion marriages can be an answer to the evil called communalism.
AK Subbaiah, former MLC, presided over the function. Prof Sabeeha Bhoomigowda, Professor in Mangalore University, released a book entitled “Komu Sauharda Vedikeya Sauharda Chaluvali.”
KS Puttannaiah, Raitha Sangha leader, Gowri Lankesh, Editor of Lankesh Patrike, KL Ashok, State General Secretary of Komu Sauharda Vedike, Fr Dr Manohar Chandra Prasad of Dalit Christians Federation, Vasudev Bolur and others were present on the occasion.
