Mangalore, Feb 8, 2014: Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Bhaktavatsala inaugurated the new District Court Complex at a glittering ceremony in the presence of a host of dignitaries on February 8, Saturday.
Justice Bhaktavatsala also released a souvenir brought out to commemorate the occasion.
DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai who spoke on the occasion, called upon the lawyers fraternity to serve the society with a sense of commitment and without any discrimination . He also urged them to live upto the expectation of their clients who approach them with the hope of securing justice.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader who was also present as a chief guest, said he was extremely happy to be a part of the inaugural function of the court complex. He also sarcastically said that though he did not get an opportunity to come to the Mangalore court to practice law, he had an opportunity to visit the court after he had to face a case of violation of poll code of conduct.
JR Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South, in his address urged advocates to ensure speedy justice to their clients.
MLC Monappa Bhandari also spoke on the occasion.
Several dignitaries including A.B. Ibrahim, Deputy Commissioner, R Hithendra, Mangalore Police Commissioner, Shanthanu Sinha, SP, and others were present.
Senior advocate Kallige Taranath Shetty compered the programme.
