Mangalore, Dec 29, 2012: State Minister for Higher Education and DK District in-charge Minister CT Ravi has said that a meeting of vice chancellors of universities and higher education officials will be convened very soon to discuss the changes that need to be brought about in the education system.
Speaking to reporters at Circuit House on December 29, Saturday, Ravi emphasised the need for stern laws and also suitable changes in the education system in order to check the rising crime against women and in the wake of the recent gang rape of a paramedical student in Delhi.

Ravi said grievance cells need to be set up in all educational institutions in order to enable its female staff as well as students to air their grievances. The Minister said the cell must be headed by a senior female faculty and must meet once a week to review the grievances.
The Minister also emphasized the need for steps on behalf of educational institutions to ensure that all students reached home safely.
On the Delhi rape case, he urged for the strictest of punishment to the culprits at the earliest.
