Made Snana will increase chances of getting AIDS and skin ailments - Poojary

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Dec 3, 2011: Senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary stated that Made Snana will increase people’s chances of getting AIDS along with other skin ailments. He was responding to a reporter’s query regarding the controversial ritual at a press conference held today.

Further, he said that people who roll on banana leaf plates discarded by Brahmins after their meals will be making themselves more susceptible to diseases. They will simply increase their chances of getting skin ailments, he added. He also dared Dr. Veerendra Heggade and Swami Vishwesha Teertha of Pejawar Mutt to speak against this ritual.

Anti Communal Violence Bill

He also reacted strongly to the statements made by Sangh Parivar leaders at a recent rally organized by pro-Hindu outfits to protest against certain objectionable clauses in the Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill.

Poojary said that the bill has not yet been introduced in Parliament, but the Sangh Parivar has already created a lot of confusion among the public. Explaining all the major sections of the bill, he stated that Sangh Parivar leaders have misquoted some of these sections.

Referring to the bill as a complete law to prevent actions that might cause harm and injury to life and property and to prevent the victimization of people just because they belong to a particular group or community, he said that such communities may be any linguistic or religious minority in any state.

He said that Hindus have no reason to be afraid because Hindus also come under the linguistic minority category. He also said that the law will not only protect minorities, but will also protect people who migrate to another state and start living there for career purposes.

Poojary also revealed statistics to prove that the bill is not anti-Hindu, as claimed by certain Hindu groups. According to the census of 2001, Indian has a population of 80.5 percent Hindus, 13.4 percent Muslims, 2.3 percent Christians, 1.9 percent Sikhs, 0.8 percent Buddhists, 0.4 percent Jains, and 0.6 percent Paris. Further, the Hindu community has 18 percent scheduled castes and 5 percent scheduled tribes. He also commented that the RSS exists only to create confusion in society.

Flaying the Sangh Parivar, he said that only the Sangh Parivar is afraid of the new law because they are actively involved in communal riots. The law will not hurt Hindus in any way, he said, adding that the law will harm only those who disturb the peace of a region and get involved in violent activities. He also said that the law will reduce cases of police atrocities too.
