Moodbidri, Oct 23, 2013 : The Moodbidri police have taken the two accused in the Siddantha Darshana Mandir burglary case into their custody for interrogations of the duo in connection with the theft of valuables from the Kodyadka Sri Annapoorneshwari Kshetra.
The duo are Santosh Das alias Ghanashyam, the prime accused and Rajaji Sancheti, the jeweler from Durg.
The theft at the Kshetra had occurred on June 29, 2009 wherein the thieves had stolen the silver mask of Anjaneya and Ganapathi, silver crown and umbrella. The police had filed a ‘C’ report in the court after they failed to make any headway into the investigation.
But, when Moodbidri police realized that there was some similarity between the Kodyadka temple burglary and the Basadi burglary, they moved the court seeking custody of the accused.
Despite Nagesh Shetty, the legal counsel for the accused arguing that his clients were sick, the court has agreed to hand over the two to conditional police custody for three days.
