Kasargod General Hospital doctor arrested for taking bribe from patient

Kasargod, Oct 05, 2023: A doctor at the Kasargod General Hospital was arrested by the vigilance squad on the charges of taking bribe from a patient for surgery.
The arrested doctor is Dr Venkatagiri. He was arrested from his residence at Nullippady while he was accepting the bribe. The raid followed a complaint lodged by a resident of Madhur Patla. He had come to the hospital for Hernia treatment when the doctor said he needed a surgery and that the surgery would be done in December and also sought Rs 2000 from the patient.
The patient had informed the Vigilance team. On Tuesday evening when the man went to the residence of the doctor and handed over the cash, the doctor was trapped.
The Vigilance squad had also received a similar complaint against this doctor in 2019 also.
