Mangaluru: Youth dies as motorcycle crashes into divider

Mangaluru, Jan 3, 2026: A 27-year-old man lost his life when his motorcycle crashed into a divider near a toll gate under construction at Raj Academy on National Highway 169, within Ganjimath gram panchayat limits, on Thursday night.

The deceased, identified as Rohith (27) of Viveknagar, Edapadavu, was the son of Harish and Mohini. Rohith, who worked in Mangaluru, was returning home after finishing work when the accident occurred. His bike collided with the divider while travelling from Mangaluru towards Edapadavu, and he died on the spot.

A bus pass belonging to Rohith was recovered at the scene, showing validity from February 2, 2024, to January 1, 2026—the day he tragically lost his life.

Drivers have raised concerns that the divider near the under-construction toll gate at Ganjimath is poorly marked and difficult to see at night, leading to frequent accidents.
