Mangaluru, Jan 4, 2025: A tribute meeting was held in memory of N. Vinay Hegde, Founder and Managing Director of the Lamina Group of Companies, President of the Nitte Education Trust institutions and Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University), at the Lamina Company premises in the Baikampady Industrial Area, Mangaluru, on Saturday, January 3, 2026.


Speaking on the occasion, M. Rajendra, Director of the Lamina Group, paid rich tributes to Vinay Hegde and recalled that Lamina, which began in 1975–76 with just 50 employees as an automobile spare parts manufacturing unit, has today completed 50 years and grown into a group providing employment to over 1,500 people. He said the Nitte group of educational institutions has created employment for more than 8,000 people. Rajendra highlighted Vinay Hegde’s humane approach, stating that he treated employees as family members, supported their children’s education, extended financial assistance, and ensured healthcare support, making him a truly exemplary leader.
B. S. Baliga, Director of Lamina, in his tribute, said Vinay Hegde had personally invited him from the banking sector to join Lamina, where he went on to serve for nearly 47 years. He recalled the guidance and mentorship Vinay Hegde provided in marketing and emphasised his relentless efforts for the welfare and upliftment of employees’ families, describing him as a noble and visionary personality.
Ravindra T., representing the workers and staff of Lamina, said Vinay Hegde showed deep concern for the education of workers’ children, patiently listened to employees’ problems, and provided solutions, guidance and support. He described him as a great soul who truly believed that workers and staff were part of his extended family.
A two-minute silent prayer was observed on the occasion, praying for eternal peace for the departed soul.
Vinay Hegde’s son and Director Vishal Hegde, grandson Viren Hegde, family members, Director Avinash Shenoy, CEO Roshan Pinto, senior officials Ajith Alva, Chandrashekar Salian, Sudhakar Shetty, Sridhar Melanta, Sapna K., B. R. Baliga, A. R. Bhandage, Sadananda Salian, Mohan Hegde, Aloysius Sequeira, Vittal Bhat, Ravi Shetty, Shantheri Baliga, Ramesh Shetty, Vishukumar, Prakash Kudva, Krishna Anchan, Puneeth Bhat, along with hundreds of employees and workers, were present. They offered floral tributes to the portrait of Vinay Hegde and paid their respects.
Suresh Rao proposed the vote of thanks and moderated the programme.
