Mangaluru: Maruti car overturns after tyre burst; Bondel parish priest escapes unhurt

Mangaluru, January 3, 2026: Father Andrew Leo D’Souza, the parish priest of St. Lawrence Shrine and Church, Bondel, miraculously escaped unhurt despite meeting with a car accident on January 1.
The incident occurred while Father D’Souza was travelling from his native place, Neerude, to Bondel Church after attending a New Year gathering at his residence. According to reports, one of the car’s tyres burst while the vehicle was passing through Marakada, causing the driver to lose control.
CCTV footage of the incident shows the car veering off the road and overturning into the courtyard of a house beside the road. Father D’Souza escaped the accident without sustaining any serious injuries.
