Kadaba: Youth dies by suicide after dropping mother to work

Kadaba, Nov 20, 2025: A youth suffering from mental depression ended his life in Kadaba taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.

The deceased has been identified as Chetan, son of D. Walter Rodrigues of Kodankeri Aakotatadka in Noojibalthila village. Chetan reportedly died by suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan in his room at home.

After completing his degree, Chetan had been assisting with agricultural work at home. For the past few months, he was said to be battling depression and was receiving treatment from doctors in Puttur. On Wednesday, after dropping his mother—who is a teacher—at the college, he returned home and is believed to have taken the extreme step.

When his mother called him in the afternoon as usual, he did not answer the phone. She then contacted a worker who was doing some work at the house and asked him to check, as her son was not receiving the call.

The worker went to the room and found the door locked from inside. When he peeped inside through the window, he saw Chetan hanging from the ceiling fan. Based on the complaint filed by his mother, a case has been registered at the Kadaba Police Station.
