Mangaluru, Apr 22, 2026: A large branch of a peepal tree collapsed in Chammar Galli during heavy rain and strong winds in the early hours of Wednesday, around 3:30 am.

The incident occurred at Ashwath Katte near Basavana Gudi, where the fallen branch crashed onto two houses and three parked two-wheelers. While the houses suffered partial damage, two of the vehicles were completely crushed under the debris.

No injuries or casualties were reported, as residents were safely inside their homes at the time.

The fallen branch blocked the local road, prompting residents to cordon off the area as a precaution. Authorities and police have been informed and are expected to clear the debris and restore normal movement.
