Mangaluru: Man arrested for attempting to sell MDMA, 23.20 grams seized

Mangaluru, Sep 24, 2026: The Mangaluru City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested a 36-year-old man for allegedly attempting to sell narcotic drugs and seized 23.20 grams of MDMA worth an estimated ₹1.15 lakh.

Acting on a tip-off, CCB police conducted an operation on September 23 near Arkula Junction, opposite Yashaswi Hall, along National Highway 73 in Mangaluru taluk. The accused was allegedly waiting to sell the drugs when he was apprehended.

The arrested person has been identified as Subhash (36), son of Ammu Poojari and a resident of Nalade House, Vaishali Nilaya, Meramajalu village in Bantwal taluk.

Police seized 23.20 grams of MDMA, two mobile phones and a weighing scale from his possession. The seized narcotic substance is valued at approximately ₹1.15 lakh, police said.

The accused and the seized items were handed over to the Kankanady Town Police Station. A case has been registered under Sections 8(c) and 22(c) of the NDPS Act in Crime No. 133/2026, and further investigation is underway.

Police are investigating whether others are involved in the alleged drug-selling network.

Police also said that a previous case had been registered against Subhash at the Mangaluru East Police Station under Sections 8(c) and 22(b) of the NDPS Act, and that case is under investigation.

Police have urged the public, particularly students, to remain alert to the illegal sale and use of narcotic drugs and to inform the nearest police station about any suspected illegal activities.
