"As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed," he added.
On April 22, 2025, Pakistan-backed terrorists killed 26 male tourists including a local pony wallah and a Nepal national in the Baisaran meadows of Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Responding to the terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, targeting nine major terror camps along the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in which over 100 terrorists were killed.
In honour of the victims, a memorial has been erected in a hill resort bearing their names along the banks of the Lidder river.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh also paid tributes to the departed souls stating, "We will never forget those wounds inflicted on our nation."
"Remembering and paying my heartfelt tributes to the innocent people who lost their lives in the cowardly terror attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025. We share the enduring pain of their loved ones and families," Singh posted on X.
