Karkala: House break-In; scooter stolen, CCTV captures thief

Karkala, Apr 20, 2026: A theft was reported in Anand Nagar of Karkala Kasaba village, where a burglar broke into a house and stole a two-wheeler parked in the yard in the early hours of April 19.

The incident occurred at the residence of Harish Shetty (46), a resident of Kariyakkallu near Star Cable Network in Anand Nagar. Harish, who works in Ujire, had locked his house and left on April 16. The theft came to light on the morning of April 19 after his relatives noticed that the main door of the house had been broken open and informed him over the phone.

According to reports, the thief used a tool to break open the main door and gain entry into the house. He then broke open a cupboard, ransacked the contents, and scattered clothes around. The accused later found the scooter key inside the house and fled with the scooter that was parked in the yard.

The entire incident was captured on the house’s CCTV cameras. Based on a complaint filed by Harish Shetty, a case has been registered at the Karkala Town Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
